In 2015, Samaritans presented suicide prevention, public education and awareness, crisis communications, cultural wellness, community resource and hotline trainings and workshops to 1,375 individuals, including 846 NYC Department of Education staff who work in 598 schools, 283 health professionals from 96 community-based and government agencies and 168 students, with the goal of reducing the stigma tied to this public health problem, enhancing participants skills, knowledge and access to tools and improving the quality of crisis responses at their sites.  Funding for these projects and initiatives was provided by the New York City Council and the Neuberger Berman Foundation.
