This Privacy Policy outlines our practices concerning the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you use our website and services and the choices you have associated with that data.
24-Hour Suicide Prevention + Crisis Hotline Privacy Policy
Samaritans is committed to ensuring caller privacy and we have stringent policies regarding both anonymity and confidentiality.
Anonymity: At Samaritans we prioritize each caller’s autonomy. Samaritans’ hotline does not use caller ID or trace calls. We do not have access to a caller’s information (including names, phone numbers and address/ location) unless a caller chooses to share that information.
This policy of absolute anonymity ensures that no action will be taken without a caller’s consent (including interventions that may include dispatching police/EMS.)
Complete Confidentiality: All information shared by callers during conversations is strictly confidential and kept within the organization. Samaritans will never disclose caller information to any outside party without a caller’s explicit consent. This includes name, phone numbers and address/ location.
Please note: Samaritans maintains confidentiality even after a caller’s death, but it is important be aware that our contact information may appear on your mobile service provider’s invoice.
General Privacy (Use of website and non-anonymous services)
Note: The following does not apply to Samaritans’ 24-Hour Suicide Prevention + Crisis Hotline (see above for Hotline privacy policy.)
Our policy is to respect the privacy of individuals. We collect names, addresses, and other contact information from users of our Site for the purpose of providing services and corresponding with users regarding their questions about the Service. This information may occasionally be used to send users information about our services. Additionally, we collect and aggregate log data and site functionality data for the purpose of analyzing and improving our website’s format and functionality.
Use of Data
Samaritans uses the collected data to provide and maintain the Service, notify you about changes to our Service, allow interactive features, provide customer support, gather analysis to improve our Service, and monitor the usage of our Service.
